The 6-day Lemosho Route is a scenic and relatively less crowded path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m). Starting at Londorossi Gate, this route crosses the Shira Plateau, passes through Lava Tower, and ascends via the Barranco Wall before reaching Uhuru Peak through Stella Point. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a pre-trek briefing, gear check, and rest before the adventure begins.

The trek starts at Londorossi Gate, where permits are issued before entering the rainforest zone. The trail winds through lush vegetation, offering sightings of colobus monkeys and bird species. A steady climb leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll rest for the night.

Accommodation: Shira 2 Camp (Tents)
Leaving the rainforest, the trail transitions into the moorland zone, with views of Kibo Peak emerging. The ascent continues over the Shira Ridge, then descends slightly to Shira Plateau, an expansive volcanic caldera. After passing Shira 1 Camp, the route continues towards Shira 2 Camp, where you will spend the night.

This day focuses on acclimatization with a climb to Lava Tower (4,630m), where lunch is served. The descent to Barranco Valley allows the body to adjust to altitude changes while passing through unique giant Senecio trees. The day ends at Barranco Camp, offering a stunning view of the Great Barranco Wall.

A thrilling start to the day begins with the Barranco Wall climb, a non-technical but steep ascent offering incredible panoramas. The trail descends into Karanga Valley, followed by a final push to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, trekkers rest in preparation for the midnight summit push.

Accommodation: Mweka Camp (Tents)
The summit attempt begins around midnight, ascending steep switchbacks to Stella Point (5,739m) before reaching Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. After witnessing a spectacular sunrise over the glaciers, the descent follows the Mweka Route with a stop at Mweka Camp for the night.

The final descent leads through lush rainforests, marking the end of the trek. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, trekkers receive their summit certificates before being transferred back to Moshi or Arusha for a celebratory meal and well-deserved rest.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward journey, concluding your 6-day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro adventure.
